Summary

Prohibits
creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on the basis of
- Age, race, color, religion, national origin, sex,
marital status,
- The fact that the
applicant has, in good faith, exercised a right under the Consumer Credit
Protection Act, or
- The fact that the applicant receives all or part of his
income from public assistance programs
Establishes
guidelines for gathering and evaluating
credit information
Imposes
timing requirements for communicating action on an application for credit
different rules for individuals and small businesses
Requires
creditor to supply a copy of the appraisal, or a notice of the right to
receive a copy of the appraisal, on loans that would be secured by a dwelling
Requires
written notification when credit is denied
