FDIC Adopts Assessment Rate Adjustment Guidelines for Large Institutions and Insured Foreign Branches in Risk Category I - FIL 40-2007 5.16.07

On 3.31.06 the FDIC merged the two deposit insurance funds (the Bank Insurance Fund (BIF) and the Savings Association Insurance Fund (SAIF)) for which it was responsible into a new fund, the DIF or Deposit Insurance Fund

Each insured institution is assessed a "fee" or insurance premium based both on the institution's balance of insured deposits and upon the degree of risk the institution presents to the insurance fund

FRB

The Federal Reserve Board does not have any fees or assessments per se. It is funded through the non-interest bearing reserves required on all demand deposits. It does charge market-based fees on its services to banks such as Fedwire, etc.
